When is a company ‘royal’?
A company may apply for the designation under a number of conditions: for example, a company must be at least one hundred years old and may only be awarded the title after an anniversary by a multiple of 25 years.
The company must have prestige, writes the Royal House, when it comes to nature, size and reliability. In addition, it must occupy a prominent place in the Kingdom in its field, preferably with an international reputation.
The application must be submitted to the mayor, who advises the king’s commissioner. He consults various institutions and ministries and advises the king. The procedure takes about a year.
