Heidenheim beats Hanover
With a brilliant away win, Eintracht Braunschweig has set a warning sign in the relegation battle duel at VfL Osnabrück. 1. FC Nürnberg continued its unbeaten series in Würzburg, but also gambled away the victory in the “small Frankenderby”. Hannover 96 conceded a defeat against Heidenheim after the anger about a leading goal that was disallowed because of offside.
Double packer Abdullahi & Kobylanski prepare first away win for BTSV
Eintracht Braunschweig defeated Osnabrück 4-0 (1-0) on Sunday and overtook their rivals from Lower Saxony in the 2nd Bundesliga table. The strong Suleiman Abdullahi shot Braunschweig in the lead in the 11th minute and put the “Löwen” on track for their first away win of the current season.
Martin Kobylanski, who had prepared the first goal worth seeing, scored 2-0 shortly after the break with a penalty kick (51st), before Abdullahi was successful again (55th). In the fourth Braunschweiger goal by Kobylanski, VfL goalkeeper Philipp Kühn (66th) failed.
With the victory, Eintracht left the relegation place and improved to 15th place. Osnabrück is now in 16th place. However, VfL, who reported a Corona case shortly before the game, played one game less.
Hannover 96 still in crisis: 1: 3 against 1. FC Heidenheim
The sporting crisis of Hannover 96 continues. Accompanied by the unrest over the corona test of a player, the former candidate for promotion also lost 1: 3 (0: 1) against 1. FC Heidenheim and has now been without a win in the 2. Bundesliga for seven games.
However, the Lower Saxony had bad luck on Sunday. They should have taken the lead in the first half. At the score of 1: 1, a goal by Genki Haraguchi was controversially annulled after the use of video evidence (61st). Heidenheim initially moved up to five points on the promotion relegation rank.
The guests were much more effective and scored with a 30-meter shot from Marnon Busch (43rd minute) and a double strike from Robert Leipertz (75th) and Stefan Schimmer (79th). Florent Muslija only used one of the many 96 chances to make it 1-1 (51st).
Würzburg and 1. FC Nürnberg only with a draw in the relegation battle
1. FC Nürnberg and the Würzburger Kickers missed important points in the relegation battle of the 2. Bundesliga by drawing in a direct duel. With the 1: 1 (0: 1) on Sunday, the club could not increase its lead on the table cellar – the Kickers, however, as the bottom of the table with a success, could have believed more seriously in the rescue. They have six games to go six points behind the relegation place – but with one game more than Osnabrück.
Erik Schuranov from Nuremberg benefited from a mistake by the hosts in the 5th minute and headed to the lead. The only 19-year-old striker celebrated his second goal of the season. Because the FCN then missed the second goal, the Kickers were also able to equalize with a header in the final phase through Lars Dietz (78th).
