Rostock (SID) – Hansa Rostock took the momentum out of the DFB-Pokal and gained some room for relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga. The promoted team won 2-1 (1-0) against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Rostock moved up to one point on Fortuna, who stayed in the middle of the table with 15 points.
In the Ostseestadion, Hanno Behrens (20th) and Bentley Bahn (73rd, hand penalty) gave Rostock their second home win of the season with their goals. Khaled Narey (57th) achieved the interim equalization for Düsseldorf.
The hosts started cheerfully. Nik Omladic and Streli Mamba tested Düsseldorf goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier (7th) right from the start. After a lot of counter-pressing, Behrens came to a conclusion shortly before the penalty area and rewarded the Rostock team for a good start.
Düsseldorf found their way into the game better and better in the second round, and Narey managed to equalize. A goal by Rostock’s John Verhoek (64th) did not count because of offside, shortly afterwards Bahn was successful after a handball by Marcel Sobottka from the point.
While Rostock made it into the round of 16 of the DFB Cup on Wednesday at Jahn Regensburg (4: 2 iE), Düsseldorf was eliminated at Hannover 96 (0: 3).
