Kia had introduced the new Ceed earlier this year at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Now here is her muscular version, the Kia Ceed GT!

As for the basic version, the Ceed GT has been developed in Europe, exclusively for the European market. The biggest novelty of course comes from the engine, the 1.6 turbo that develops 204 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. It's the same one found under the hood of the new Kia Proceed hunting wagon. Two gearboxes will be available with this engine, a standard 6-speed manual, and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch.

But according to Kia Europe boss, Emilio Herrera, this Ceed GT is not looking for the best acceleration or top speed, but the pleasure in curves, without sacrificing comfort.

Kia insists on this point: the GT must remain a traveler. So, if the suspensions were slightly firmer, Kia did not want to go too far. Anti-roll bars have been softened, and the ride height lowered by 5mm. There are also wider brake discs at the front (320mm instead of 288mm). The stability control system has been revised to be a bit more permissive, while the GT will have a system of "torque vectoring": the wheels inside the bend are braked to allow better handling.

Outside, this GT differs from other Ceed by more aggressive shields, front and rear. There is also a red edging on the grille, the front blade and on the sills, and an air extractor flanked by two tailpipes at the rear. A small spoiler also appears above the rear window, as well as standard 18 "wheels.

The red line is also present everywhere in the cockpit: on the seat cushion, the doors, or the steering wheel. On the dashboard, there is a central screen of 7 or 8 inches depending on the finish. Note that Kia has decided to implement speakers that amplify the sound of the engine in the cabin. The sound receives on the other hand a boost more "bio" with a valve exhaust more voluble.

On the technology side, there is the autonomous highway driving system, which reads the road and detects cars in front and behind to take over, and manage direction and speed. But unlike the normal Ceed, on which it is limited to 130 km / h, it is here raised to 180 km / h! Especially useful on the German Autobahn …

The Kia Ceed GT will be available early 2019, and will be presented at the Paris Motor Show 2018, early October. The rates will be disclosed later, presumably at the same time as the announcement of the approval of the car's emissions.
