3 questions that interest every fan

After 2020, the third MainLit literature festival will take place in and around Würzburg this year. Until July 14 there is a wide range of events with authors from all areas of literature.

July 3rd is all about Würzburg authors. From 11 a.m. the local literary scene will present their work on the stage at Gut Wöllried. The editors asked the nine authors the same three questions. Here are their answers.

1. Angela Kirchner (reading from “Victor Flec” at 11 o’clock):

Why should people come to your reading? If you want to know what ghosts really look like, what is special about them and where they actually come from, you should definitely attend my reading at MainLit.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? I definitely recommend Anna Benning’s books for young adults – super cool plot twists and likeable characters are guaranteed here.

Which book are you reading right now? I am currently reading two books at the same time: “A place to love” by Lilly Lucas and “Fotography” by Anna Heupel.

2. Günther Huth (reads at 12.30 p.m. from “Der Schoppenpfetzer and the Shadows of the Past”):

Why should people come to your reading? Because after the years of literary renunciation caused by Corona, it is urgently time again to be entertained by an exciting regional crime thriller with Erich Rottmann, Öchsle and friends.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? The stories by Wolfgang Mainka, aka the Würzburg night watchman, bring a lot of fun and local color!

Which book are you reading right now? Since I’m currently writing volume 20 (anniversary volume) of the Schoppenfetzer crime series, I don’t get much time to read other books, but when I do, then really tough thrillers!

3. Johannes Jung (reads from “Hartes Brot” at 2 p.m.):

Why should people come to your reading? Because it’s witty, entertaining and funny and everyone will leave happier.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? Hanns Peter Zwißler from the Authors’ Circle Schweinfurt.

Which book are you reading right now? Currently reading Ivan Turgenev’s “Notes of a Hunter”.

4. Udo Pörschke (reads from three of his own texts at 2 p.m.):

Why should people come to your reading? Do you like socially critical stories that deal with current social issues? Then… Come here… Can you see through it.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? John Young. Because together we form a fun and contrasting duo.

Which book are you reading right now? ET A Hoffmann: “Der Sandmann”.

5. Rainer Greubel (reads from two of his own texts at 3.30 p.m.):

Why should people come to your reading? You will be wittily entertained in my reading, because the expectable and the surprising alternate, because the real and the fictitious mix up again and again.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? I recommend the grand seigneur and multiple artist Erhard Löblein, Zell.

Which book are you reading right now? For the umpteenth time I read George Orwell’s ever topical “1984”.

6. Amadé Esperer (reads at 3.30 p.m. from “The Moment Laughs in the Eye”):

Why should people come to your reading? Because they get to hear funny, erotic-frivolous and up-to-date poems and stories from “Europe’s Gardens of Happiness”.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? Gerhard Falkner.

Which book are you reading right now? “The Utopia Method” by Giuseppe Gracia & “Wild Iris” by Louise Glück.

7. Sebastian Schmidt (reading at 5 p.m. from “This is how I imagine the singing of recently mutated finches”):

Why should people come to your reading? Because Kamali Bauer and I had a lot of fun preparing for the reading and had good ideas, for example there will be plants.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? Marco and Florian Bötsch, Vera Zimmermann, Marie Fenzl.

Which book are you reading right now? Vahni Capildeo: “Like a tree, walking”.

8. Kamali Bauer (reading from “Collage N° 1” at 5 p.m.):

Why should people come to your reading? Come who wants, not who should.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? I would like to recommend the KLW (Collective Literature Magazine Würzburg) and the Younglit events in Cairo for regional new discoveries.

Which book are you reading right now? Until recently I was reading “Atemschaukel” by Herta Müller and now I’m looking for something that can keep up with it.

9. Lilly Lucas (reading from “A Place to Love” at 6:30 p.m.):

Why should people come to your reading? Because I’m taking them to a real feel-good place, an idyllic farm in Colorado that you’d like to move to yourself.

Which other authors from the region do you recommend? Kristina Moninger writes beautiful and soulful novels.

Which book are you reading right now? “Everything You Know About Me” by Kyra Groh.
