Sabrina Spellman has a not so sweet 16!

Netflix released the first teaser for its upcoming series on Thursday Chilling Adventures by Sabrina, The 40-second teaser starring Kiernan Shipka in the title role of the adolescent witch gives the fans a first glimpse of the series, made by the creators of Riverdale and said to be in vain Rosemary's baby and The exorcist,

With a haunting "Happy Birthday" background, blood-red candles are lit in the first seconds of the teaser in honor of Sabrina's sixteenth birthday.

Interspersed with shots of Sabrina's city, including the morgue and her school, there are quick flashes of monsters setting up a spooky version of the beloved character. There is also a party scene with some unusual guests as well as a steamy kiss and some super scary pictures.

The teaser ends with Sabrina eerily smiling directly into the camera as she blows the candles on her cake.

The series shows the teenager reconciling his double nature – half witch, half mortal – while standing against the evil forces that threaten themselves, their families, and the daylight world that humans inhabit.

This is the first footage from the highly anticipated series, though the first photos were released last month in addition to a poster in July. Fans will also have a look at Sabrina's love interest – played by Ross Lynch – in April.

"I really believed in this project and I'm pleased to say that my expectations have been exceeded so far," Lynch said. "Only the aesthetics of everything and the actors and Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], the showrunner, all visions come together and they are effective. "

The show will stream to Netflix on October 26th. In the meantime, here's more from ET's interview with Lynch:
