4000 euros for seller: ‘referral bonus’ higher than ever

It is estimated that 10 percent of employees enter this company through this route. And that can be even more, says Koen Roozen, who has his own recruitment office. “If you do it right, it can yield 20 to 40 percent of your employees.”

In the past, colleagues only received this bonus if the new employee successfully passed the probationary period. “That is less often the condition now,” says Irene Oerlemans of the NVP, the Dutch Association for Personnel Management & Organizational Development. “The commotion that the employee creates is rewarded. Companies often already pay for the effort. The amount is lower: about 250 euros.”

According to Roozen, employers have been increasing the amounts for some time. “Where such a bonus used to be 500 euros, it is now 1000 euros. Sometimes it goes far beyond that. That sounds like a lot of money, but if you look at recruitment costs through a recruiter, it is much more.”

A large part of the employees of SuitSupply, a chain with more than 100 branches in 25 countries, now come in through an employee. Fokke de Jong: “We do it because of the tight labor market, but also to quickly find qualified personnel. We have many requirements: you have to know everything about styling, customization. With all due respect, it is more than a bag from the warehouse. to fetch.”
