41 new cases of Covid-19 were detected during the day; there are no reports of the dead in Latvia

In the last 24 hours, 7,924 Covid-19 tests have been performed and 41 new infections have been reported, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (IPCC).

No reports of deaths have been received.

The proportion of positive cases against those tested is 0.5%.

The 14-day cumulative rate per 100,000 population is 62.3.

In Latvia, a total of 137,210 people have contracted Covid-19.

Taking into account the achieved indicators, Latvia could apply for entry into the European Union (EU) list of “green countries”, which would mean less restrictions on movement. According to information disseminated by the EU, this list includes countries with a cumulative test rate of less than 75 and a positive test rate of less than 1%, while if the positive test rate is between 1% and 4%, the cumulative rate should be below 50%.

To date, a total of 137,210 people have contracted Covid-19 in Latvia, but 2,503 have died from this disease, or 1.8% of those have died.
