5,407 new corona infections were reported in Austria on Sunday. 2,330 people are treated with a coronavirus infection in hospitals.
The number of new coronavirus infections has continued to decline, according to data released on Sunday.
Number of new corona infections below the seven-day average
According to AGES, 5,407 new infections with the corona virus were received on Saturday. For comparison: A week ago it was 8,667. The 5,407 other infections were below the average of 8,740 new infections per day over the past seven days. The seven-day incidence continued to fall below 700 and was 677.7 per 100,000 population.
The number of active corona infections is also declining
With 97,741 active cases, there were 6,205 fewer than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 5,398,512 confirmed cases in Austria. 5,279,877 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 11,611 were registered as healthy again within the past 24 hours.
20,894 corona deaths since the beginning of the pandemic
Three more deaths were added on Saturday, meaning that 20,894 people have died of or with Covid-19 since the pandemic began. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 231.4 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died in connection with a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
2,330 corona patients in hospitals
AGES also published hospital figures on Sunday: According to this, 2,330 patients with Covid-19 were in the hospital, one more than the day before. 128 of them were treated in intensive care units, just as many as the day before.
