Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakaran has directed the buses plying to Karnataka to desalt the diesel as Rs 7 per liter is less than in Kerala. Diesel price in Kerala is Rs 95.66. 87.36 when reaching Karnaka.
KSRTC has also issued a special fuel card to purchase fuel from Karnataka. This card issued by oil companies can be used to purchase fuel from pumps. Earlier, the buses that operated to Karnataka were desalted from Palakkad KSRTC depot.

KSRTC saved Rs 3.15 lakh per month on diesel in 17 buses after starting to use fuel from Karnataka. 15 SWIFT buses going to Karnataka via Mananthavadi and two buses from Bengaluru to Kerala are entering Karnataka.

These services of KSRTC are plying 1500 liters of diesel daily from Karnataka.
