People love kittens because they are small and downy – but what is hidden underneath all that fur? This cute collection of hairless Sphynx kittens prove that these creatures can be just as cute, if not a little strange, without a luxurious mane.
Despite the absence of a winter coat, the Sphynx breed comes from the white north of Canada. In the mid-sixties, a cat in Ontario was born with a hairless kitten as a result of a natural genetic mutation. After this anomaly, two separate sets of hairless kittens were born in the mid-1970s in Toronto and Minnesota. Through careful breeding, the Sphynx cat evolved into the unique animal that you see today. Sphynxes come in different colors and patterns and are not technically as "naked" as they appear. If you look close enough, you can see that they are covered with a thin layer of fuzz. Scroll down to view some pictures of these regal cats and don't forget to convince your favorites!
