a beach evacuated after the discovery of a shell dating from the Second World War – CAMEROON MAGAZINE – CAMEROUN INFO

The shell was discovered by a vacationer who immediately alerted the authorities, says France Bleu.

At the time of the evacuation, 800 people were on the beach and 300 on the cliff, stranded without being able to descend while a safety perimeter of 150 meters was set up on each side of the shell.

This sector of the beach will remain closed until Thursday morning at the earliest, the date scheduled for the intervention of the deminers, adds the media, which quotes the local authorities.

The gendarmerie was mobilized and the deminers are expected on site to neutralize the shell, still loaded, we note.

According to the mayor of the town, André Baillard, it is an 88 mm anti-aircraft shell used by the German army during World War II.
