A clear favorite and six Swiss

France – The new season in France’s Ligue 1 starts on Friday with the well-known favourites. Paris Saint-Germain should be untouchable. The race for the Champions League places promises to be exciting.

Paris Saint-Germain is newly coached by Christophe Galtier. Mauricio Pochettino’s successor should lead the star ensemble with Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and Lionel Messi to the Champions League title and eleventh championship trophy.

The most serious rivals at home are likely to be Lyon and Monaco with newly signed Breel Embolo. But Marseille, Rennes and Nice with Jordan Lotomba, again coached by Lucien Favre, are also good for a top 3 classification.

In addition to Embolo and Lotomba, three other Swiss players are in Ligue 1. Kevin Spadanuda, who moved to France from the Challenge League, opens the season on Friday with newly promoted Corsican Ajaccio against Lyon. The midfielder, like goalie Yvon Mvogo, will probably play against relegation with Lorient. Jonas Omlin, the second Swiss goalkeeper in Ligue 1, starts his third season with Montpellier.
