A video of a crocodile carrying the body of a missing child in Indonesia circulated on social media and garnered attention.

According to local Indian media such as Indian Express on the 26th, on the 18th, a 4-year-old boy, Muhammad Ziyad Wijaya, went missing at the mouth of the Mahakam River on the island of Borneo, Indonesia.

While the child was not found despite a search by the authorities, on the 20th, two days after the disappearance, a huge crocodile about 3m long was caught swimming in the river carrying a child on its back.

The local fishermen who discovered this approached the crocodile in a boat, and when the fisherman reached out and got closer, the crocodile gave back as if it had come to return the body. After the fisherman rescued the child, the crocodile immediately disappeared into the water.

The body was identified as Wijaya, whom the rescue team was looking for, and surprisingly, no bite marks were found on the child’s body. The body was in an intact condition with no organ damage.

The exact cause of Wijaya’s death is not known, but rescue authorities believe the boy drowned while playing alone in the river behind his home.
