A man has been arrested in Sri Lanka for sexually assaulting a Spanish tourist while sleeping in the hotel room where he was staying in the city of Kandy, as reported by the Spanish National Police.
The investigation began last May, when the police had knowledge of the facts. According to the woman's complaint, she had met the man a few hours before the assault, was staying in the same hotel and could be the family of the owner of the establishment.
She slept in her room when the individual agreed to it, taking advantage of the fact that the lock on the door was in poor condition; She went to bed and used force to force her to maintain sexual relations.
The woman hurriedly left the hotel and contacted the Consulate of Spain in Sri Lanka, while filing a complaint with the tourist police of Colombo. She was assisted in the hospital and remained hospitalized for two days.
After receiving discharge, he returned to Spain and went to the Hospital de Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), where the protocol for victims of sexual crimes was activated.
It was at that time when the police interviewed her and collected documentation that contributed to accredit the sexual assault and identify the person responsible, such as clinical reports and emails that the woman had received from both the author of the events and the owner of the hotel.
All information was made available to the Court of Instruction number 2 of Torrejón de Ardoz and the authorities of Sri Lanka through the cooperation mechanisms of the National Police, which facilitated the arrest of the aggressor in the Asian country.
