A Hidden Gem in Burgundy: The Domaine des Prés Verts Ranks in Top 3 of ‘Best Outstanding Hotels’ on TripAdvisor

The 4-star establishment has just entered the Top 3 worldwide on the TripAdvisor website in the category “Best outstanding hotels”. It is even in front of the Souquet house in Paris and the famous Negresco hotel in Nice.

Access to the estate is via a narrow secondary road lined with tall trees to the small village of Jouey, in Côte-d’Or. In the hamlet of Pochey, precisely. “Welcome to the Domaine des Prés Verts!” Jérémy Leleu, the fwaver, has a smile. This is the first time that its 4-star hotel-spa has been recognized internationally: “We’ve been in the top 25 on TripAdvisor nationally for a few years now, and we’re even number 1 of the 720 establishments in Bourgogne Franche-Comté. We did not expect it, we are delighted. It’s a pride, I think we don’t realize yet”says the director.

Spread over four sites, the estate offers eight top-of-the-range accommodation with private jacuzzis as well as a massage offer. Suites, studios, fully equipped lodges, a trailer… With all modern comforts.

But the highlight of the show is this hut perched 7 meters high with a breathtaking view of the plains of Auxois-Morvan. After a romantic getaway, Sonia and Romain, a couple in their fifties from the Paris region, are getting ready to hit the road again.

This is the second time they have booked a room in the estate. But this time, they opted for the “Reserve”, this hut perched, far from everything: “This is truly a haven of Kenya in the heart of Burgundy”, exults Romain Bordé.

“This kind of place combines both the pleasure of being in nature and luxury hospitality. You never miss anything. As if there was an invisible hand that anticipates all your desires”, he concludes.

For this romantic getaway, the couple paid just over 600 euros for two nights: “It’s not within everyone’s reach, but we got 30% off and that’s not counting the little extras”, smiles Sonia before insisting on the discretion of the place: “We have complete privacy.” The average price for one night is 350 euros for two people.

In 2008, Jérémy Leleu left Paris and the hotel and restaurant industry to settle in this little corner of Burgundy: “It was heartbreaking. At first it was a wasteland, I laid down the grass with my car in order to pitch a tent there. That’s when I started thinking about the concept.”

And it can be summed up in three words: confidentiality, personalization and romance. In 2011, he built his first hut. “I wanted it to be very comfortable with the codes of a 4-star hotel. In search of calm, today the estate has nearly 20 employees and is almost full all year round with an occupancy rate of 98%.

The famous booking platform TripAdvisor has ranked the Domaine des Prés Verts in third place of the “Best Out of the Common Hotels” (in English, “Traveler’s choice Best of the Best”), a prize that includes several categories. On the podium, it is placed after an unusual accommodation in Chile and a hotel in Turkey but in front of the Souquet house in Paris and the Negresco in Nice, the famous hotel on the Promenade des Anglais.

This ranking is based on the number of comments and rave reviews from the travel community, over a 12-month period. According to the site: “Less than 1% of the 8 million pages on Tripadvisor are recognized with the Best of the Best award, which attests to the highest level of excellence in hospitality.”

To book a room, it is better to plan ahead, especially for weekends. “It takes 6 months. During the week, we have a little more availability but the perched hut is not free with the month of November”, says Jérémy Leleu.
