CHERRY HILL, New Jersey — Actor Gary Busey was charged with sex crimes at a fan fair in New Jersey a few days ago.
Busey, 78, was arraigned Friday on attempted sexual contact and sexual harassment charges, Cherry Hill police said Saturday.
The alleged crimes were committed at the annual Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel between August 12 and 14 in Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb, police said.
BUSEY IS KNOWN FOR HIS ROLE IN THE FILM ‘THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY’
The actor, now a resident of Malibu, California, was a special guest for the three days of the fair.
The police did not identify the actor as a suspect, although the age and place of origin are the same. An email was sent to the police asking for confirmation.
It was unclear if the suspect has an attorney who can speak on his behalf. The actor’s rep has not yet responded to messages asking for comment.
Busey has mostly starred in supporting characters, but was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for the title role in “The Buddy Holly Story” (1978).
