This Friday the sentence of Pablo Lyle for involuntary manslaughter in the United States was known, during a hearing held in Florida. The actor had already been found guilty of the crime last October and Judge Marisa Tinkler Méndez set the sentence this Friday of five years in prison.
Once he has completed his sentence, Lyle must be on probation for a period of eight years and will have to meet various requirements set by the judge, as part of the punishment for the death of Juan Ricardo Hernández.
How did the crime happen?
The story goes back years, while Lyle was spending a few days off in Miami, in March 2019. According to the arrest warrant reviewed by Univisión, a medium based on the police report, a witness said that Lyle was a passenger in a car with two other people. Taking a wrong exit, the person driving the vehicle, who was Lyle’s brother-in-law, attempted to make a U-turn to save time.
At that moment, the vehicle crossed into the car of Cuban Juan Ricardo Hernández, 63, who blew his whistle and got out of his car and hit the passenger window where Lyle was going.

Although the altercation could have ended at that point, Lyle reacted angrily and got out of the car and punched the Cuban in the face. Hernández fell to the ground unconscious and, according to the witness in the police report, he never woke up again, after being taken to a hospital, he died four days later.

The medical diagnosis ruled that Hernández suffered a stroke, attributed to the blow he suffered when he fell. The four days that Hernández survived he was in a coma. Lyle escaped from the scene and was later caught by the Police, thanks to the testimonies of some witnesses.

The Miami court accused him of involuntary manslaughter, his defense unsuccessfully claimed self-defense, as he was allegedly protecting his six-year-old son who was sitting in the back.
The jury made up of six people reached the verdict on October 4 after a day of deliberations. Initially there had been talk that the sentence could reach 15 years in prison.
Lyle spoke and apologized
This Friday, Lyle took the floor and addressed the family of Juan Ricardo Hernández. Lyle had his hands cuffed and was dressed in a red prison uniform.
According to the Mexican newspaper excelsiorthe actor addressed the Hernández family directly saying the following words: “This haunts me when I go to sleep at night and is still there when I wake up. I never wanted this to happen, never; Not even in the wildest dreams could I imagine that something like this could happen, that a life would be lost”, said the actor.
With tears in his eyes, Lyle added: “I want them to know it from my mouth, that no one tell them what I feel. They are the most sincere apologies I have ever offered, with all my heart, I am so sorry. I feel very sorry for him, for you, with all my heart, may God bless you.”
In the judge’s arguments, the actions of Lyle was described as a result of “his character” and it was said that he went “with anger”. “The evidence shows that what Mr. Lyle did was an act of violence”, assured the judge.
In addition to serving prison time, Lyle must take conflict resolution and anger management classes and perform 100 hours of community service.
