Ice hockey national striker Markus Eisenschmid shot table leader Adler Mannheim to a narrow victory over ERC Ingolstadt. Two days after his 26th birthday, the attacker scored on Sunday in the top game after 15 seconds in overtime to 2: 1 (0: 0, 0: 1, 1: 0, 1: 0) success. The championship favorite of the German Ice Hockey League averted a setback.

Brendan Shinnimin had equalized the Ingolstadt lead from David Elsner from the second period two and a half minutes before the end of regular time and ensured overtime. Coach Pavel Gross’s eagles prevented their second defeat in a row with their narrow success after losing 2-1 in Straubing on Friday evening. With nine wins from eleven games this season, the Adler lead the table of the stronger southern group in the season that has changed due to the corona.

In the northern group, the Kölner Haie reported back after a clear 1: 5 in the derby against the Düsseldorfer EG. The Haie outclassed the Krefeld Pinguine crisis club with a 7-0 (2-0, 3-0, 2-0) win away from home and ended their series of six consecutive defeats. James Sheppard met three times. The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven also won the second north duel with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg this season. With 83 seconds to go, Miha Verlic scored the 2: 1 (0: 0, 1: 1, 1: 0) success for Bremerhaven. For Bremerhaven it was the seventh win in the tenth game of the season. At the beginning of the year, coach Thomas Popiesch’s team had defeated Wolfsburg 5-2.
