The Bavarian Motors Group, the BMW and MINI brand dealerships in Egypt, has officially unveiled the BMW i3, the first five-seater compact hatchback for the first time in the domestic market, the Middle East and North Africa.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Amr Nassar, represented the Prime Minister of the European Union, Mr. Evan Surkosh, Ambassador of the European Union in Cairo, Farid Al-Tobji, Chairman of the Bavarian Group in Egypt, Conrad Baumgartner, Director of the Regional Sales Sector and Mr. Mohammad Ghazali Harb, BMW i.
Mohammed Al Ghazali, Director of the Marketing Sector of the Bavarian Group, referred to the preparations made by the company for two years to equip the maintenance centers and qualify the technicians to deal with the electrical technology, in order to ensure the success of the experience of this type of car in Egypt.
The BMW i3, the first electric car entering the Egyptian market, is classified as a city car with 125 kW / 170 hp electric motor. The car will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds and reach a range of 200 kilometers.
The new i3 electric model, according to the German News Agency, features the new features on the front and rear collars. The front-end change signals are also designed horizontally in the bumper, and the car has standard LEDs.
BMW used fiber materials from renewable natural sources to manufacture interior parts of the car cabin, as well as some wood vaccinations from sustainable forests.
To reduce the weight of the exterior of the car was used materials of carbon fiber and aluminum, to ensure durability and light weight at the same time, leading to increased efficiency of performance and increase the range that can be reached by a single shipment.
The car includes a cooling system that maintains the perfect performance of the battery at all times. The BMW i3 driver can do the economic driving system with the push of a button, helping to increase the distance by about 30%.
The i3 is the first car produced by BMW German commercial large-scale electric cars, and was first unveiled in 2011 in Berlin. Production began in 2013.
The new electric car will be offered in the Egyptian market with one class of equipment at an official price of 850,000 pounds and a two-year warranty period without a maximum limit of kilometers on the whole car and 8 years or 100,000 km warranty for the battery.
