This data is the result of the "Market Study of Agroecological Products in the Dominican Republic" presented today by the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD).
The executive director of the JAD, Ivonne García, said that the presentation of this study is made within the framework of the implementation of a sustainable agriculture program to involve between 1,500 and 2,000 producers at the national level to organic agriculture.
He said that the challenges posed by climate change forces producers to assume new ways of growing for food to reach consumers in a healthy way.
He said the goal is to prepare farmers to export organic products to demanding markets.
"We are working with 10 products that go to the domestic market and have export potential and incorporate them both in the open field and greenhouse so that these can reach the most demanding markets," said the executive of the JAD before starting the presentation of the study .
The program is financing the program with one million dollars and the JAD is the executing entity. It will last for two years.
The study was presented by the consultants Rafael Díaz and Francisco Rojas.
