AKP Francis Broken Bones Stoned by Masses of Papuan People’s Petitions

VIVA – A police officer broke his bone as a result of the mass demonstration of the Papuan People’s Petition (PRP) in Jayapura City, Papua which ended in chaos on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

The demonstrators objected to the formation of a new autonomous region (DOB) and the second volume of Otsus with anarchists throwing stones at the security forces when the crowd was dispersed.

“From this mass anarchic action, the Head of Polresta Jayapura City Police, AKP Francis JP. Wardjukur suffered a very serious injury, namely a broken spine in his right hand,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Pol. Drs. Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, Tuesday night in Jayapura.

The anarchic action of the demonstrators, he said, was very unfortunate and resulted in injuries to members of the Police, even though the Police were present to provide security.

Kamal said, for information, the incident began when the security forces dispersed the protesters, then the masses who did not accept threw stones at random.

“Seeing this, then AKP Francis JP. Wardjukur protected the community and traders who were around the location, but unfortunately AKP Francis was hit by stones by the masses,” said Kamal.
