The tragedy has hit the filming of Alec Baldwin’s (63) western film “Rust” in New Mexico, reports a number of American media.
A film photographer is dead and the film’s director is injured after being shot with a prop pistol during the filming. Baldwin fired the shots, police said.
Film photographer Halyna Hutchins (42) was sent to hospital, where she was unfortunately confirmed dead. Director Joel Souza (48) has been sent to hospital where he will receive treatment for his injuries. This is stated by the police in Santa Fe in New Mexico in a press release, reproduced by, among others, People.
At the time of writing, there are no charges in the case and the investigation is open and ongoing.
TMZ reports that Baldwin recorded a scene where someone was about to fire a weapon with a blank shot, but when the weapon was fired hit either splinters or a bullet Hutchins and Souza.
The police state in a press release that the police are investigating how and what kind of projectile was fired, reports CNN.
The recording of “Rust” has been stopped for the time being, Baldwin’s spokesperson has informed People.
