At the end of January, Tom Brady did not yet know what his future would look like. A week after the crashing failure in the NFL playoffs, he had not yet decided on his future and a possible end to his career. “If I fucking knew what I was going to do, I would have fucking done it already,” the seven-time Super Bowl winner said on a US podcast. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 45-year-old was eliminated in the wild card round of the playoffs by a 14:31 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Now – on February 1st – he has made his decision: The superstar publishes a video on social media in which he explains his resignation. In this he thanks his fans and explains that he is stopping. Brady says, “This time I’m really quitting.” And: “I thank my family, my friends, the fans and my teammates.” he love them all
Brady is the most successful football player in NFL history. The family man (three children) won seven Super Bowls in the National Football League – nobody else has more than five. In addition to the title record, he also holds the record for passing yards (84,520) and touchdowns (624). In total, he was in the Super Bowl final ten times. When he was picked in the sixth round of the 2000 draft as the number 199, no one thought it was possible.
He was one of the best teams in the league for 20 years with the New England Patriots, and in his first year after moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he won the title again at the end of last season. The Bucs became the first team to win the championship on home soil after not winning a playoff game in 18 years prior to Brady’s arrival. He announced his resignation a year ago, but then changed his mind a little later. But now it should be final.
Separation from Gisele Bundchen
Brady has not had an easy year. The 45-year-old quarterback was in unusual chaos, not only in sport but also in his private life. This means above all: the separation from top model Gisele Bundchen (42). He separated from her in 2021 after 13 years of marriage.
Brady’s quarterback coach Clyde Christensen (67) recently told the Tampa Bay Times: “To see Tom having to leave the training camp for eleven days to take care of some personal matters was heartbreaking.” He was “very worried” about the seven-time Super Bowl winner: “He lost 15 pounds. It was very stressful. He fought in pain.”
