American rapper JayDaYoungan was shot and killed on Wednesday evening July 27 in a small town in Louisiana, local police said. The 24-year-old artist was notably known for his singles 23 Island, Elimination et Opps.
The musician died in his hometown of Bogalusa, a source said in a statement. “Javorius Scott is died of his injuries” after the shooting, which took place shortly before 6 p.m., said the police who also mentioned his pseudonym JayDaYoungan.
A “close family member” was also injured but is in stable condition in hospital, the statement added without giving further details. According to the media, there would be a second victim who is none other than the rapper’s father, also deceased. Police said an investigation was underway and would release “further information” when it was “available”.
On the Instagram social network, rapper JayDaYoungan had recently posted photos showing him playing with his young son. His single “23 Island”, released three years ago, counts 173 million views on YouTube.
