The employees of the cleaning service of police stations of the Ertzaintza and courts of Gipuzkoa have reached an agreement on Tuesday with the awarded company Garbialdi, which puts an end to nine months of strike that these workers have carried out.

The striking cleaners They denounced the remuneration difference that, in their opinion, they suffer with respect to the street cleaning sector, composed mainly of men who, according to their calculations, once discounted the bonuses that the latter charge for working outdoors, have a base salary 13 % higher than that perceived by those who clean the police stations and 7% more than those who do this work in judicial buildings.
The strike of the workers of the company Garbialdi, concessionaire of the Basque Government for the cleaning of these buildings, was convened on September 19 by the unions ELA, LAB, UGT and ESK, with a central demand: the disappearance of this "wage gap" that, in their opinion, exists regarding the "masculinized" and better paid sector of street cleaning.
