Sony and Honda have announced the formation of a joint venture called Sony Honda Mobility Inc. The first fruit of the cooperation could be an electric car coming in 2025 – writes Villanyautósok.hu.
The unveiling of Sony’s first electric concept car in 2020 surprised many, especially as it seemed very close to series production. However, the letter of intent for the joint venture with Honda was announced months ago, so a new automotive company could be expected to be established.
The aim of the joint venture is to combine the expertise of the two companies, with a 50-50 percent ownership stake.
The expertise added by the two founders is completely different, while Honda has a long history in the automotive industry, Sony’s role in technology and entertainment could be strong.
With the development of self-driving skills in cars, there will also be an increasing emphasis on entertaining the driver while traveling.
