An NGO rescues the children of a Texas couple in an operation in Russia

The Tampa, Florida-based organization Project Dynamo, which has been helping people leave Ukraine since the Russian invasion last February and through the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, announced that it was conducting one of its missions for the first time in Russia to remove the twins from an orphanage in that country.

The biological mother of the twins lived in eastern Ukraine, one of the regions hardest hit in the war, which is why she fled while pregnant and ended up in St. Petersburg (Russia), where she gave birth in September, according to a statement. on Facebook of Project Dynamo, made up of volunteers.

The children for reasons not explained by Project Dynamo ended up in an orphanage in the Russian city and were rescued in time to be in their new home in Texas on Thanksgiving, the most important non-religious holiday in the US. , which this year is celebrated today on November 24.

According to Project Dynamo, since the birth of the twins, the family in Texas tried to get them out of Russia, but nothing worked, despite the help of the US government.

“After months of desperate attempts to bring their children home, the parents contacted The Dynamo Project at the suggestion of a friend within the US diplomatic corps,” the nonprofit organization said in a statement.

“Once again, the Dynamo Project team took over when others couldn’t,” said the founder of the NGO, Bryan Stern, in a statement, in which he thanked the Consular Services of the Embassy of the United States for their help. in Moscow, as well as the United States Embassy in Tallinn (Estonia).

Stern, who participated in the mission in Russia, added that “who knows what the fate and future of the twins would have been or if their parents would have ever met them, had they remained in Russia.

Stern is a veteran of the US Armed Forces and worked as a rescuer in the attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York.

Project Dynamo was created in 2021 in principle to rescue Americans and US collaborators who remained in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of troops from this country.

The organization, made up of volunteers who are mostly retired military or ex-combatants, claims to have carried out more than 200 rescue missions in Ukraine since the country was invaded by Russian troops in February.
