Armenian Defense Ministry squanders state lands

The Anti-Corruption Committee has begun criminal proceedings on the sale of a “special purpose” land plot to citizen M.M. Based on the report of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to Day.Az with reference to the Armenian media, this is a deal concluded on December 6, 2013. So, citizen M.M. acquired a plot and outbuildings with an area of ​​0.12 hectares under an agreement for a total amount of 2.9 million drams (about $8 thousand) on one of the streets in the city of Gyumri, Shirak region of Armenia.

In April 2023, the Department for the Protection of State Interests of the Central Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia established that M.M. On November 25, 2021, he pledged a land plot for an amount six times more than the cost price – 16.7 million drams (about $41,000).

At the same time, the agreement on the sale and purchase of the land plot was ratified by the notary of the office “Kentron” A.A., who ignored the certificate from the Cadastre Committee that the site has the status of “special purpose”.

In turn, officials in the Ministry of Defense sold the site without justification.
