One or the other star of AS Monaco should have hoped for a few days off after the surprise success at the reigning French champions.
When Niko Kovac then entered the guest cabin in the Parc des Princes, shouted the words “deux jours” (in German: “two days”) and thus complied with the wish of his protégés for a little rest, the cheers in the team around ex-Bundesliga star Kevin Volland knew no more limits.
The Kovac-Elf beat Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening thanks to goals from Sofiane Diop (6th) and Guillermo Maripán (51st) 2-0 (1-0). With the victory in the French capital, the fourth place in the table from Monaco moves up to two points on PSG and is thus on course for the Champions League.
Should the leap into the premier class actually succeed at the end of the season, the celebrations in the principality should certainly not be smaller.
