Lens 2-2 Nantes
Buts : Pereira Da Costa (67e) & Kalimuendo (81eSP) for Blood and Gold // Simon (8e & 32e) for Canaries
Expulsion : Leca (19e) for Blood and Gold
The miracle almost took place in Bollaert.
Reduced to ten before the 20e, led by two goals by Nantes because of a double from Moses Simon in the first half hour, RC Lens, pushed by their public, woke up in the second period and came back up to the Canaries (2-2 ). Franck Haise’s men could see the top 6 move away, but will be satisfied with this draw, while the FCN has been heading for its Coupe de France final – in a week all round – for several weeks already.
The game got off to a flying start with an overhead shot from Florian Sotoca (5e) and Moses Simon’s answer against (6e). The second was good for the Nigerian, author of a nice cross shot on a harmless pass from Marcus Coco (0-1, 8e). As Racing pushed on, a raise from Alban Lafont allowed Simon to overtake Jonathan Gradit to eat Jean-Louis Leca head-on: exiting his area, the blood and gold goalkeeper took his red ( 18e). Half an hour into the game, Wylan Cyprien, not attacked from 30 meters, was able to arm, Wuilker Faríñez – came into play – was surprised by the rebound, and Simon, again, concluded to score a double (0-2, 32e). Artoise pressure resumed, but David Pereira da Costa missed closing the gap (39e).

After The CoronsMassadio Haïdara came up against a very solid Alban Lafont (53e), and Simon came within centimeters of the hat-trick (61e). It took an opening and a ball well exploited by Seko Fofana to see Racing return to the match thanks to Pereira da Costa, this time more skilful (1-2, 67e). Overwhelmed despite their numerical superiority, Nantes continued to take waves, and Wesley Saïd, well launched by the same Pereira da Costa, was mowed down by Lafont to cause Arnaud Kalimuendo to equalize on penalty. (2-2, 81e). A deviation from the Parisian Titi made Bollaert shiver (83e), and Samuel Moutoussamy (89e) then Kalifa Coulibaly (90e+1, 90e+5) missed the air conditioning on the end.
The Lens-Nantes, definitely a great vintage this season.
