Andrea Berta, Atletico Madrid’s sporting director since July 2017, used the ‘Premio Maestrelli’ award ceremony to talk about the Rojiblancos’ progress in recent years.
Berta also spoke about Atletico’s below-par season after winning LaLiga Santander last season and explained what the future holds for the team.
Not to miss
“Atletico Madrid were not used to winning and something important was built with the cycle [Diego] Simeone,” Berta said, according to Calciomercato.
“When you win big things, the next year you always lose something, maybe in terms of motivation. You can’t win all the time and now you have to start over.
“The years of great recruitments are over. For us, the important thing will be to continue with this team, which has value, with players who have a great future. We will have to wait for the market to kick in.”
