What happened in Pétange, this Tuesday, when the day was not yet up? A bloody incident indeed took place after 5 a.m., rue d’Athus, at number 40. According to the Grand Ducal police, an individual was the victim of a knife attack and the alleged attacker fled before surrendering around noon.

“I saved the” young “and I’m still in shock,” told us the driver of a commercial vehicle registered in France whose front hood was still smeared with blood, shortly before 11 a.m. Several residents of rue d’Athus also told us that this same “young man” was injured in the face and throat. This victim was transported to the hospital with injuries described as “serious” by the police.

“Blue lamps everywhere”

At the scene of the assault, where many bloodstains were visible on the road, neighbors also quickly noticed the presence of the Grand Ducal police helicopter. “Police forces arrived on the spot as they went,” we were told.

“There were many of them, more than fifteen at least. Dogs were there too, as well as the scientific police. We were stuck. Unable to move. The policemen put numbers in front of our house and then they started to draw tracks on the road. It’s very weird, we didn’t see anything, and even our dog didn’t bark. He didn’t hear anything, whereas it’s a hunting dog that barks at the slightest noise.

Another resident of the neighborhood was also marked by the presence of the police. “From one light pole to another, they blocked the road with tape,” he said. “There were a lot of police vehicles and ambulances. There were blue lamps everywhere, but I don’t know more. When I saw the police dogs, I thought something serious had happened. It was outside my door and I was woken up between 5 and 5:30. Everything was blocked. When day broke, the helicopter kept circling.

“Blood Everywhere”

While it was still dark, another neighbor was warned “because there were slamming doors”. “I heard men’s voices and suddenly I heard like a little child crying. I then got up, looked out the window and thought I saw a girl lying on the sidewalk. A few men were around and I felt like they were on the phone. Ten minutes later, the ambulance arrived. There were at least four police cars and the whole road was blocked. I wake up every day around 5am, and I really thought I heard that a small child did not want to get in a car”.

Who was injured by a knife around 5 a.m., rue d’Athus, in Pétange? “Nobody knows,” repeats another neighbor, “it was too early. The person who stopped with a utility vehicle registered in France had to stay there for a long time with the police. He told us that he was a “young man” who was pissing blood everywhere. Especially at face level. We imagine that the driver of the utility stopped to help the victim of the stab wounds. It was surely a fairly violent settling of accounts. Are people going crazy after Covid? We really ask ourselves questions”.
