Fiery hell on the highway between Lodi and Milan to storm a security van. Two barriers of incendiary cars to the south and north and an expanse of nails on the ground to trap an armored vehicle of the Battistolli company: on Tuesday evening a commando set fire to at least seven cars and a truck on both sides of the Milan-Naples.
A fire barrier to the north, in San Zenone al Lambro, the other a few kilometers further south in Lodi Vecchio plus an expanse of nails on the asphalt arranged by the bandits to block the way to the valuables carrier. Hell exploded shortly after 11 pm: the gang would use a municipal road in San Maria in Prato, a hamlet of San Zenone, to bring the cars, almost certainly stolen, to the highway and then set the flames on fire. The vehicle would have been rammed by a truck but the ambush apparently failed.
An episode that closely resembles that which occurred on the same stretch of highway a few kilometers further south in November 2014 when the bandits created two fire barriers to assault an armored vehicle carrying 5 million euros. Even on that occasion the driver had managed with extreme coldness to escape an ambush concerted with paramilitary methods. The assault on Tuesday night seems to be the carbon copy: two barriers of burning vehicles, the highway strewn with nails, the command that comes into action. On the spot from 11.15 pm the vehicles of the red cross – but they would not be injured at the moment – and the teams of the firefighters from Lodi, Milan, Piacenza plus the staff of Autostrade per l’Italia and the Lodi traffic police for the investigation. Behind the pillar of fire a long column of cars was immediately created. The Autostrada del Sole was closed in both directions making the exit at the Lodi junction obligatory.
