She turned her back on Hollywood eight years ago. But now Cameron Diaz was persuaded to make a comeback in front of the camera. She will appear in the action comedy Back in Action on Netflix. It was her co-star Jamie Foxx who managed to lure his co-star into early retirement – with the help of football legend Tom Brady.

The Oscar winner posted a recording of a phone call between himself, Diaz and later Brady on Twitter. The point was that Cameron was unsure how to come back from her announcement that she was retired: “I’m really excited, but I don’t know how it’s going to work.” Foxx then had a surprise for she ready. He brought Brady, who had stepped down from his retirement announcement a few months ago, into the conversation: “Listen, I’ve got someone on the other line who can help you with this. Can I turn it on?” Diaz: “Sure, I’m grateful for every tip.”
Then Brady’s voice came on, and Foxx introduced, “It’s Tom. The greatest of all time.” The 49-year-old sounded stunned: “Tom? Oh my God. Tom Brady!” Brady: “Hi, I was just talking to Jamie. He said you need some tips on coming out of retirement. I’m pretty good at that!” Diaz laughed, “Honestly… that’s exactly what I need!” As soon as Diaz and Brady began further conversation, Foxx clicked off.

Foxx also serves as a part-time producer. The two actors had previously worked together twice – in 1999’s Any Bloody Saturday and 2014’s remake of Annie, which was also Diaz’s final role. Because after that, she decided to fully focus on her marriage to Benji Madden and their daughter Raddix (3). She has since turned down comeback offers totaling $100 million. Instead, she took care of her own wine label Acaline on the side.” She launched it in July 2020 with her friend Katherine Power.
