Consumers from Saxony borrow the least money. In the Free State, the average loan amount is 12,760 euros. That is 16 percent or around 2,350 euros less than in Baden-Württemberg. In addition to Saxony, borrowers from Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania need the lowest installment loans.
“We see a slight east-west divide,” says Christian Nau, Managing Director Loans at Check24. “In the high-income federal states, consumers finance significantly higher amounts. Regardless of how high the loan they want, online customers in all federal states benefit from up to 35 percent better conditions than in the branch bank.”
The east-west comparison in figures: consumers from the west take out an average of 14,372 euros, around eight percent higher installment loans than customers from east Germany (13,273 euros).
