The most important fashion week in Argentina successfully held a historic edition in which it merged the great references of fashion with the greatest exponents of urban music. On Wednesday night, the central court of La Rural dazzled with a unique staging. The more than 500 square meters of scenography allowed fashion and music to be intertwined in an extraordinary fashion show which was broadcast live through Flow and It will be available for 24 hours on the platform. The BAFWEEK special, which will include highlights from the show and unreleased behind-the-scenes content, will be available on Flow in 15 days. The event was held in strict compliance with current protocols and sanitary measures.
BAFWEEK surprised once again with a unique fashion show that dazzled all spectators for an hour and a half. Cazzu, Duki and Bhavi, three revolutionary artists from the music scene, chose the BAFWEEK stage to do their first shows of 2021 together with representatives of local fashion: Ay Not Dead, Raimondi, JT, Kosiuko, Elemental x Nous Etudions, FILA, Garcia Bello + Natura, Ginebra, ML, Daels, Mishka, Valentina Karnoubi, Anushka Elliot and Roberto Sanchez.
How was the dynamics of the event?
The event was raised in three blocks made up of brands and designers, and a musical artist was in charge of closing each one.
At 21, Ay Not Dead kicked off the show with a collection that revealed an antagonism between tough / elegant versus soft and feminine.. The models paraded to the rhythm of the songs of Charly García, a close friend of the brand. Next, Daels paid tribute to Argentine traditions by dressing the models with materials and garments typical of the Gaucho and Pampean culture. Mishka inspired his presentation in the fashion revolution of the 60s and the madness of photographers to capture new trends. Then it was time to Valentina Karnoubi with a collection that celebrated the plurality of the feminine with subtly romantic garments and, for the first time, she presented a series of masculine looks.
The last moment of the block was at the hands of García Bello + Natura, with a performance on the catwalk to show their alliance that seeks to redefine the concept of beauty, stripping it of stereotypes to promote a beauty that enhances the authenticity of each woman. Bhavi made his appearance to close the first block with the most popular songs from his recent album Cinema, a work of more than two years that has collaborations with Khea, Duki, Louta, Alemán, Cazzu and many other references on the national and international scene.
Elemental x Nous Etudions opened the second batch with a choreography in line with the collection’s messages of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Then, it was the turn of the always disruptive firm Raimondi, which showed its collection through an artistic performance, highlighting the logic of diversity and high quality of its garments. It was followed by JT, who for the first time in its history adapted its presentation to an event of a collaborative nature. The proposal focused on the costumes and silhouettes of the royalty of the 1700s and staged eight “queens”, who unveiled this new collection with historical overtones. The ML brand stomped on its first appearance at Bafweek with limited edition pieces and a marked genderless urban style. Roberto Sanchez was another new addition to the cycle, presenting his new Kisses from Rober collection by Duki. The undisputed benchmark of trap, who after more than a year returned to the music scene, performed some of his hits such as Piensa en me and Wacha.
With its urban and modern spirit, Geneva inaugurated the last block with models and dancers wrapped in designs inspired by the cosmos. Anushka Elliot presented a collection driven by its founder’s travels around the world, capturing their fused cultures to achieve an eclectic, relaxed and timeless style. FILA marked its debut with a collection that recalls the beginnings of the brand in the 70s, with nods to street style, advances in mountaineering technologies and constructive resources.
The catwalk closure was in charge of Kosiuko. Between vibrant colors and playful prints, the brand presented its proposal with a fashion show and figure skating. The grand finale of the event was starred by the young musical artist Cazzu, who impressed with a total look by Jazmín Chebar. Original prints and ruffles dressed the main reference of Latin American trap, who was in charge of crowning the 20th anniversary edition of the most important fashion week in Argentina.
