Barça can probably not afford Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen is available on a free transfer this summer due to his expiring contract with Chelsea. Among other things, this calls FC Barcelona onto the scene. A move to the Camp Nou will probably fail due to the financial feasibility.

Since the contract negotiations with Chelsea have stalled, a number of top clubs are trying to get Andreas Christensen. FC Barcelona was also recently traded as a potential buyer.

As Mundo Deportivo write, Azulgrana officials are aware that negotiations with Chelsea are likely to go nowhere due to father Sten Christensen’s demands. In the Barça executive offices, this apparently raises doubts about the feasibility of a transfer.

The Christensen side is said to be asking for a one-time signing payment in addition to a renewal bonus. Money that Barça probably cannot raise in the current precarious economic situation.

Christensen is represented by London-based agency KIN Partners, which has Rodrigo Messi, brother of Lionel Messi, in its ranks. He had arranged the transfer of Konrad de la Fuente to Olympique Marseille in June. The relationship with Barcelona is said to not be the best since Lionel Messi left.
