Ronald Koeman he already has the forwards that he asked the board of the Barcelona for the 2021-22 season. Taking advantage of the end of the contract with their respective clubs, the Barça president, Joan Laporta, assured the signings at zero cost of Sergio Agüero and Memphis Depay, two players with a great poster in Europe, but who were not exactly the dream of the Dutch coach. According to the Spanish newspaper ‘Don Balon’, his hiring was more of a market opportunity than a desire of the coach.
The aforementioned source points out that if there is a forward with whom Koeman dreams for Barcelona, that is nothing less than Romelu Lukaku, an attacker for Inter Milan and one of the figures of the last European Championship who was already under the orders of the Barça coach at Everton in the Premier League.
In Liverpool, the Dutchman was in awe of Lukaku’s style of play and promised that one day their paths would come together again. So far, they have not met again, although Barcelona could be a good place to do so.
“We are talking about Romelu Lukaku, with whom he is dying to go back to work, after having him in his day, in the ranks of Everton. Much has rained since then, and they promised to meet again one day, which, at this point, has not yet been possible. But neither of us lose hope that it will happen ”, publishes the cited source.
The problem for Barcelona is that Lukaku is not a cheap forward and these days, the money they have at Camp Nou is not enough to make stellar hires. According to the ‘Transfermarkt’ portal, the Belgian, who has a contract with Inter until 2024, is valued at 100 million euros.
Before being the shining figure of the Lombard club, Lukaku has worn the shirts of Anderlecht, Chelsea, West Brom, Everton and Manchester United.
