FC Bayern Munich has had to do without Lucas Hernández (26) for months. That has been clear since Wednesday morning. The French defender tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the first World Cup group game against Australia (4-1).
However, FCB will not make a new commitment in the upcoming transfer period to compensate for the long-term absence. Hasan Salihamidžić, sports director at the southern Germans, made that clear: “We won’t do anything in winter.”
In addition, the official encouraged Hernández immediately after the serious injury. “Of course we are all shocked and very much regret it. But Lucas is a fighter and will come back strong,” said Salihamidžić, “he gets all the support that is possible.”
As a further plan, the 45-year-old stated that Hernández would “leave Doha very soon” and come to Munich. Then to have an operation and start his rehabilitation.

Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić: “He’s a fighter and he’ll come back strong.”
Get well soon, Lucas. We are all with you! ❤️
