Argentina’s soccer superstar Lionel Messi is about to make his debut at his new club, Paris Saint-Germain.
The six-time world footballer and four-time Champions League winner is now officially part of the Paris squad for the game against Stade Reims. PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino had already announced on Saturday that Messi would be in the squad. The 34-year-old came from FC Barcelona three weeks ago and has only trained since then.
The striker Kylian Mbappé, who is willing to leave, is also on the list of players, as announced. The French world champion wants to move to Real Madrid, Paris had rejected a first offer from the Madrilenians for 160 million euros. A new one should cost 180 million euros. The changeover period runs until Tuesday.
Real coach Carlo Ancelotti had referred to the club’s management after the 1-0 league win against Betis Sevilla on the question of transfer poker. “We’d better talk about the game because the rest is up to the club working on it,” said the Italian coach. “I don’t know any details at the moment.” (dpa)
