Berlin: money transporter attacked – four injured, perpetrators on the run

A money transporter was attacked in Berlin in the morning. The crime happened at a bank branch in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. The perpetrators are on the run, four people injured, a police spokesman told FOCUS Online.

The crime is said to have happened around 11:15 a.m. at a Postbank branch on Uhlandstrasse. The road between Berliner Strasse and Güntzelstrasse is closed due to the police operation. The spokesman told FOCUS Online that the first media reports that it was a bank robbery were rejected. The perpetrators only attacked the money transport.

As the police confirmed in the afternoon, several shots were fired in the air. According to the police, the perpetrator is also said to have sprayed tear gas. As the “Tagesspiegel” reports, the perpetrators are said to have stolen a money box from a money messenger inside the bank. Eyewitness photos show the perpetrators driving away in a black Audi. According to the police, they fled in the car in the direction of Mecklenburgische Straße.

All four people are said to be only slightly injured, including two money messengers. Three of the injured were taken to the hospital.
