Nationwide revolutionary protests have been taking place in Iran for weeks. Despite the Islamic regime’s brutal violence, torture and death penalties, people continue to fight for equality, social justice and civil liberties. Solidarity and education are central to these struggles. On the one hand, protesters repeatedly point out the relevance of international solidarity as one of the most important means of pressure against the regime. On the other hand, schools and universities play a special role in the uprisings because they are among the centers of the protest.
The event would therefore like to deal with the role of places of education in the context of resistance struggles and address the following questions, among others: Why is there a need for transnational solidarity in relation to worldwide emancipation movements such as the current one in Iran? What is the importance of universities and other places of education in the revolutionary process? What can we learn here from an international and historical perspective?
In solidarity with other freedom movements, the topics of the event such as resistance, education and solidarity will also be discussed from a Kurdish, Afghan and Roma perspective.
Entry is at 6 p.m. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:45 p.m.
