Berlin – The corona incidence in Berlin has continued to rise and has reached the highest value of all federal states. In the past seven days, around 1,593 out of 100,000 people have been infected. This emerges from data from the Robert Koch Institute this morning. A week ago the value was 962.8.

In Hamburg, too, the incidence today reached more than 1,500, the average across Germany was around 894. 13,212 new corona infections were registered in Berlin. The total number nationwide was almost 468,000.

In the past seven days, around 15 of Berlin’s 100,000 residents have been hospitalized for treatment, according to the health administration. The corresponding traffic light in the Senate’s warning system was red. It still shows a yellow signal when the intensive care units are occupied – their occupancy with corona patients has been relatively constant for weeks and was 17.5 percent today.

The RKI has counted 8,871,795 proven infections with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.

The RKI gave the number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days as 3.87 on Monday (Friday: 3.77).

The RKI said the number of people who had recovered was 7,331,200 today. The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with SARS-CoV-2 rose to 116,960. © dpa/
