Between Angers and Sablé, a TER hits a young woman, diverted traffic

A regional express train (TER) hit a young woman on Tuesday, January 18, shortly before 8 p.m. The Nantes-Le Mans train was approaching Étriché station (Maine-et-Loire) when the accident occurred. The 20-year-old victim was ejected. In serious condition, she was taken care of by the firefighters as well as a team of doctors from the mobile emergency and resuscitation service (Smur) of the CHU d’Angers.

Forty passengers taken care of

The train had to be stopped in the middle of the track. Around 9:30 p.m., around forty stranded passengers had to be taken care of by the SNCF. Evacuated, they were going to be transferred to the nearest station, probably that of Le Mans (Sarthe). This accident caused a lasting disruption of main line train traffic. Thus, the TGVs were diverted in both directions, with an extension of travel times, according to the company.
