USA:s president Joe Biden criticizes the President of Russia Vladimir Putins statement on deploying nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus.
– This is a dangerous kind of talk and it’s worrying, Biden told reporters at the White House.
Putin claimed on Saturday that he had ordered the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, which is ruled by fellow authoritarian Alexander Lukashenko.
According to US defense sources, there are no indications that Russia has moved tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus.
– They haven’t done it yet, says Biden.
The outside world has reacted to Putin’s actions and, among other things, the EU’s foreign affairs chief Joseph Borrell has announced that it is ready to impose tougher sanctions on Belarus if the country agrees to Russia placing tactical nuclear weapons in the country.
