Biden Says the US Pandemic is Over, Jokowi: We Don’t Have To Hurry


President of the United States (US) Joe Biden said the pandemic in the US is over. In response, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the one who could declare the pandemic over was the World Health Organization (WHO). Regarding when the pandemic in Indonesia will end, Jokowi said there is no need to rush.

“Yes, this pandemic will happen in all countries in the world and that can provide statement, declaring the pandemic over is WHO. As for Indonesia, I think we have to be careful,” said Jokowi during the inauguration of the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road, which was broadcast via the Setpres YouTube, Tuesday (20/9/2022).

Jokowi said there was no need to rush in declaring the Corona pandemic was over. He reminded to always be vigilant.



“You still have to be vigilant, you don’t have to be in a hurry, you don’t have to immediately declare that the pandemic is over, I think you should be careful,” he said.

Jokowi added that currently several countries are experiencing an increase in Corona cases. Therefore, Jokowi emphasized that caution is needed in dealing with this pandemic.

“There are 1, 2 countries where the Covid-19 is starting to rise, be careful. That’s what we really need,” he said.

Biden declares the US pandemic is over

President Joe Biden said the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States (US) was over. Biden made this statement at a time when the United States is still battling the coronavirus, which is killing hundreds of people every day.

“The pandemic is over,” Biden said in an interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes television program.

The interview with the television took place on Wednesday (14/9) last week. At that time Biden attended an auto show in Detroit which was attended by thousands of people, but only aired on Sunday (18/9) local time.

“We still have problems with COVID. We still have a lot to do about it. But the pandemic is over,” Biden said.
