Wolfsburg – As expected, the Austrian U21 national player Patrick Wimmer will switch from Arminia Bielefeld to VfL Wolfsburg after this season, both Bundesliga clubs announced.

The 20-year-old offensive player signed a five-year contract with Lower Saxony that runs until 2027. This early change is made possible by an exit clause in his contract in Bielefeld.

“Patrick fits our requirement profile perfectly. He is versatile and can be used preferably on both offensive wings, but also as a second point or as a right-back. He has power, dynamism and speed,” said Wolfsburg’s sporting director Marcel Schäfer. Before Wimmer, VfL had already signed the Polish international Jakub Kaminski from Lech Posen for the coming season.
