Bike Check: Bernard Kerr's Pivot Phoenix 29 Carbon – Crankworx Rotorua 2019

Bernard Kerr has been working with the Pivot team on developing their motorcycles for some time. The bike has chatted a lot, and although prototypes have been discovered, the final specifications are not yet known. I met Bernard in Crankworx Rotorua to take a closer look at the new 29er.

The bike here is not the final production model, but it is very close. There are some details that will change, but Kerr has been using this frame for some time with various link setups and is very pleased with it.

768 mm Renthal rods mounted on a 50 mm stem. This is narrower than many drivers, but Bernard stretches his hands as far out as possible.

Kerr is currently running an Angleset to try different head angles. Currently it is at "about 62.5 degrees".
The team experimented with different links. The suspension will increase quite a bit.
A Shimano drive ensures that everything works.
DMR's Deathgrip seems to be a popular choice among gravity riders.

The hubs of Industry Nine have 690 points. They are paired with Reynolds carbon rings.
