Blackhawks send Reichel back to the IceHogs

The Chicago Blackhawks announced further roster planning decisions for the upcoming season on Tuesday. German international Lukas Reichel was sent back to the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League.

The 20-year-old winger, who was drafted 17th overall by the Blackhawks in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft, played his first 11 NHL games last season, recording one assist, and is hoping to make more appearances next season first goal.

In addition to Reichel, forwards Cole Guttman, Michal Teply and Josiah Slavin, and defenseman Isaak Phillips were sent to the Ice Hogs. The Blackhawks also ended professional tryout contracts with forwards David Gust and Kale Howarth.

The roster attending the Blackhawks’ training camp now has 35 players, including 20 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goalies.
